Okay, the U.S. economy is distressed right now. Will it get better? Yes! Remember, everything is cyclical & we will work through this. It may take a few years, but it will happen. When I was in Oklahoma running a real estate office, I talked with one of the Realtors who had survived the oil bust back in the 70's & 80's. He told me during those times in Texas & Oklahoma there were whole blocks of homes being foreclosed. One right after the other. People lost everything. They survived. They came back & they came back stronger than they were before. They learned. So will we!
What do we do in the meantime? Pick up a copy of Suze Orman's "2009 Action Plan, Keeping Your Money Safe & Sound". Suze explains how we got into the predicament. I found there was more to the problem than I thought.
We can all sit around & be angry about this, but we need to take steps to make sure our finances & futures are safe. I believe Suze's book has great financial suggestions. She is empathetic to the situations that arise, such as saving money & how to pay bills at the same time. She explains how to handle your credit. She encourages you to be honest with yourself. She's tough, but cares!
Suze suggests to make a Pledge for 2009 by doing the following:
1) Do not spend money for 1 day 2) Do not use your credit card for 1 week. (this can be done. I'm doing it!) 3) Do not eat out at a restaurant for 1 month
These items are to help you make changes in your life. Some are easier than others, but I know you can do it!
I challenge all of you to do this with me, starting today! Email me and let me know how you are doing! linda.leesman@coldwellbanker.com |
